I am a data science leader and a passionate advocate for diversity in the workplace. Going from a high-school dropout to the first woman in my family to graduate college, my journey is one of persistence and resilience. I lead search engine analytics at Google and participate in the IamRemarkable initiative, empowering underrepresented communities to celebrate their accomplishments, and teach data science at Google to other Googlers. Outside of work, I volunteer with organizations that promote diversity and inclusion, including advisory councils within Google and local non-profits.
I started my educational journey after a six-year gap between high school and college degrees; I was determined to make my mark. In 2012, I was accepted to the University of Washington where I built a stellar profile as a student and as an emerging leader. Here I served as the President of Business Information Technology Society, a student led organization, and won the Student Leadership Award for the hard work and dedication. After countless rejections, I eventually interned at Amazon, earning 1st place among every internship presentation, and secured a job offer after graduation. In 2014, I was selected as the University of Washington Valedictorian. Giving my speech to an audience of 3,000 students, parents, staff and faculty. I ended the undergraduate career at the top of my class.
Prior to working at Google, I worked at Amazon – leading the way in the hottest tech job in the America as a self-taught Data Scientist. In 2018, I proudly received two recognition awards for my exemplary work in Amazon, and a Women Empowerment Award in 2019 which recognized my contributions towards building an empowered community, and a support system for women in tech.
In 2019, I was featured by Wogrammer, People of Color in Tech and Women in Tech Show. I was also the keynote speaker at the Citizens Foundation annual fundraiser to an audience of 600.
In 2020, my story of resilience was featured on Forbes. I was also featured in Google Career Certificate (Data) on Coursera.
In my free time, I love to spend time with my family, try new coffee shops and hikes around the city (morning coffee walks are my favorite), work out (okay I am a little obsessed), and create learning content on Instagram and YouTube, It's worth mentioning that I love to laugh and kinda have a signature laughter, very distinct kind as they tell me :)

"It’s my pleasure to write a recommendation on behalf of Sundas Khalid. Sundas and I worked on a couple of projects together at the Michael G. Foster School of Business, including an Amazon Case Competition. Over the course of the projects Sundas maintained a high level of leadership and ownership. Her contribution to both projects was greatly appreciated by our team members. She possesses outstanding organizational skills, strategic thinking, and resourcefulness, which helped exceed our group’s performance goals. Furthermore, Sundas is not afraid to ask for constructive criticism. She is one of the few people I know who have come to me to ask about an honest feedback on their work. I think this is extremely important as it shows her dedication to learn from her mistakes and improve her performance. Sundas truly is one of the most intelligent and dedicated people I know and I would recommend her to all employers looking for a driven and motivated individual to add to their workforce."

"Sundas is an outstanding leader and team player. I had the pleasure of working with her in many projects that were challenging and full of complexity. Sundas’ dedication, creativity, and ability to proficiently work in a cross-functional setting always helped projects move forward. She was always a key player in delivering exceptional results that derived from her vast knowledge in multiple areas of business. I’m confident that Sundas will not only continue to impress her colleagues with her commitment and valuable skill-set, but will also bring a positive and innovative attitude to the organization she chooses to be a part of. "

"I have worked with Sundas in both IS 310 project as well as in BITS Consulting Group where she was the co-president of the only technology club in the Foster School of Business. Sundas stands out as one of the most hard working people I have encountered in the business school. She solves problems in a relentless fashion. She always dives into the root cause of the problems and does not omit any details at any level. She is also a great leader and her charisma comes not only from the credibility she has built for herself through hard work and exceptional results but also from the warmth she emanates at the work environment. I'm certain she would be a great asset for any fortunate organization to have!
